Jamaica Flag

Jamaican flag

The flag of Jamaica was adopted on 6 August 1962 (Jamaica Independence Day), when the country gained independence from the West Indian Federation under British protection. The flag consists of a gold saltire that divides the flag into four parts: two green (top and bottom) and two black (top and bottom), and is currently the only national flag that does not contain any shade of red, white or blue. The black represents the strength and creativity of the people that has enabled them to overcome difficulties, the gold the richness of the land and the golden sunshine, and the green the lush vegetation of the island and also hope.
