WOODFLAG: Passion for Wood, Art and Tradition
První čtyři české vlajky

I have been interested in woodworking since I was a child. My great-grandfather was a woodworker, his son (my grandfather), although he was an auto mechanic, helped my father, who is also a woodworker, with his woodwork. My father has been involved with wood and woodwork all his life. Because of these teachers, working with wood has been intertwined throughout my life. Even as a young boy I was always making something and getting in the way of my dad in the workshop. I studied information technology in high school and college, as well as working as an analyst and programmer in a small Czech company. There wasn't much time for woodworking anymore.

Time passed and I started to miss manual work more and more. I thought about what I could make out of wood. One day I got the idea to make Czech flags in a rustic style, which is very popular in the United States. The first four Czech flags saw the light of day in 2018.

I gave three to my closest friends and kept one. The flags became popular among friends, and I made seven more and gave them to friends again. The interest in the flags grew and I had the idea to use them for a good cause, maybe even to help someone. At the beginning of 2019, an idea was born in my head. I made thirty Czech flags and donated them to Spolk Vlčí Máky. This is an organization that helps veterans in need. The Wolf Poppies Society auctioned off most of the flags in auctions to raise funds to help those in need. The total price of the auctioned funds exceeded my expectations. The remaining flags are still awaiting auction. At the end of 2021, I took the first steps to create my own e-shop and called it, what else but WOODFLAG. More than 4 years have passed since the first flag was produced and in between I have tried different production processes to achieve maximum quality and efficiency. In the end, the whole family is involved in this project, from the manufacturing process and sourcing of materials to innovation and ideas.

The biggest milestone came in March 2023 with the acquisition of a CNC machine. Thanks to this machine, a huge space opened up for me and I was able to start producing hand-painted colorful state signs, 3D solid wood reliefs or custom logos. I am always trying to improve and push my work to make the offerings on the woodflag e-shop as interesting as possible for you, the client :-)
